HI, I’M ÚNA … WELCOME TO MY BLOG
I absolutely love making cards with all kinds of products and techniques and now have discovered that I also really enjoy making videos on how I use them. I retired two years ago following a 36 year career as a Primary school teacher and spent the past year doing a Master’s Degree in English. Now that’s finished I’ve decided to indulge my huge passion for paper-crafting and expand my experience by making card-making videos. I know I am on a huge learning curve! Let me know what you think … all questions, comments and recommendations are welcome.
FAVOURITE SHOPS (I am not affiliated to any retailer – just happy to mention these great shops)
Cork Art Supplies on Princes Street, Cork City is well-stocked and the staff members are always very helpful. They also provide a great online ordering service. Check it out at http://www.cardznscrapz.com.
David Walsh has a great shop in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford and has always been very helpful with sourcing tools and products. I bought all my Spectrum Noir markers from David at a great price. Check out https://www.davidwalshdungarvan.com/magento/index.php I also purchased my eBosser from David. I really enjoy using that Craftwell electronic die-cutting and embossing machine.
Crafty Angels on Cutlery Road in Newbridge, Co. Kildare is an Aladdin’s cave for crafters. Give yourself lots of time to browse through a vast array of papers, inks, stencils, embossing folders, dies, cardstock, inks of all kinds, glues, stamps, tools etc The website is http://www.craftyangels.ie They too provide a great online ordering service.
The Art and Hobby stores are always good for obtaining basic supplies and embellishments. They have a huge range of XCut dies. It is always worth rooting through their bargain bins! http://www.artnhobby.ie
Vibes & Scribes is another great shop with an amazing array of ribbon for every project. I have also sourced some great value handmade paper stacks in this shop in Bridge Street, Cork. They also do online ordering … http://shop.vibesandscribes.ie/
The Little Paper Tree in Galway has a great range of products. I was so excited to find items from companies like Hero Arts, Lawn Fawn and Avery Elle which I have never been able to find in Ireland before but have seen them used in craft videos by Jennifer McGuire (see below). I discovered this super website when I happened to pick up a magazine in Dunnes Stores called Crafters United Ireland which is in its second issue. Go to http://www.thelittlepapertree.com to check out the great range of products.
http://www.sevenhillscrafts.co.uk is a super online craft shop. They dispatch really quickly and offer a friendly personal service.
I bought my MISTI stamping tool from http://www.oysterstamps.co.uk at a good price. It would be even better now because of the current sterling/euro exchange rate. They stock some really great products. I really want those new Misti Creative Corners!!!
FAVOURITE CRAFTER
I have been following several paper-crafters online for years, especially Jennifer McGuire at http://www.jennifermcguireink.com. I have learned so much from her over the years – so-much-so that I thought I would have a go myself at producing videos!
I am an amateur without sophisticated equipment and with limited technical knowledge … hoping to learn lots as I go along.
Please feel free to comment, ask questions or criticise constructively 😉
